Castello Banfi is located on the southern slope of Montalcino, Tuscany, which is worldwide renowned for crafting the celebrated Brunello di Montalcino. The vineyard estate was founded in 1978 when the Mariani family assembled a contiguous estate of 7,100 acres, one third of which is a constellation of single vineyards. Banfi selected the native Sangiovese grape for producing Brunello di Montalcino, and pioneered the planting of many international varieties resulting in a collection of prestigious wines, all distinguished by a common soul deeply rooted in this incomparable territory. Overlooking the vineyards is a medieval fortress, Castello Banfi. Meticulously restored, it boasts a glass museum, enoteca, balsameria, a boutique luxury hotel and the restaurant: “La Taverna”, serving traditional dishes of the region. Banfi has been voted at Vinitaly as Italy’s Premier Vineyard Estate for 12 consecutive years and at the same concourse it has been awarded with Gran Premio for its Dedication to Excellence - Leading Ambassador for “Made in Italy”.
