The Marianis established Castello Banfi in 1978, assembling a contiguous estate of 7,100 acres in Montalcino, Tuscany. Banfi selected the native Sangiovese grape and pioneered the planting of many international varieties. Overlooking the vineyards is a medieval fortress, Castello Banfi. Meticulously restored, it boasts a glass museum, enoteca, and two restaurants: “Castello Banfi – La Taverna,” serving traditional dishes of the region, and the Michelin Star “Castello Banfi – Il Ristorante,” serving Mediterranean-inspired Tuscan cuisine. In March 2007, “Castello Banfi – Il Borgo” opened its doors as a boutique luxury hotel alongside the castle.
