Chateau Ste. Michelle pioneered vinifera grape growing in Washington State and has been producing classic European varietal wines since 1967. The winery combines an ongoing dedication to research with a commitment to classic winemaking traditions. It is best known for its award-winning Rieslings, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Chateau Ste. Michelle owns 3,400 acres of vineyards in the Columbia Valley. Its best known vineyards include Canoe Ridge Estate and Cold Creek. Founded in 1985, Columbia Crest is Washington State’s premier producer of premium wines, producing classic European grape varieties in the Columbia Valley. The Northwest’s largest winery with 2,500 acres, Columbia Crest is acclaimed by critics and consumers alike for creating wines with a food-friendly, approachable style that captures the true expression of each grape variety vintage to vintage. Columbia Crest Merlot helped establish Washington’s outstanding reputation for the variety, and the winery is recognised for the consistent quality of its popular Chardonnay. These varietals, along with the winery’s Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, are frequently named in the annual lists of “top wines” selected by national wine magazines.
