Penfolds has long been cherished by wine-lovers the world over. Producing remarkable wines since 1844, Penfolds indisputably led the development of Australian fine wine in the modern era. Founded in 1844 by a young English doctor, Dr Christopher Rawson Penfold, vine cuttings from the south of France were planted around the site of the modest stone cottage he built with his wife Mary at Magill, on the outskirts of Adelaide. The introduction of Penfolds Grange in 1951 forever changed the landscape of Australian fine wine. Since then a series of standout wines, both white and red, have been released under the Penfolds masthead.

Koonunga Hill is a Penfolds success story. Created by then Chief Winemaker Don Ditter in 1976, the wines have a reputation for over-delivering on quality and in great vintages, have remarkable cellaring potential.
